About Us

College of Nursing Sciences, St. Mary's Joint Hospital (CONSA), Amaigbo is a distinguished institution committed to excellence in nursing education, clinical training, and community healthcare development.
The College is a joint project of the Government of Imo State and the Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Orlu, reflecting a strong partnership between public service and faith-based commitment to healthcare advancement. The institution was founded under the leadership of Most Rev. Gregory Obinna (Emeritus) as the first Proprietor, and continues to thrive under the guidance of Rt. Rev. Dr. Augustine Ukwuoma, the current Bishop of Orlu Diocese.
Situated in a serene and conducive learning environment, the College is located approximately 500 metres behind Nwangele Local Government Area Headquarters, along Anara-Orlu Road, Imo State.

Our Heritage

The College of Nursing Sciences, St. Mary's Joint Hospital has a rich legacy rooted in service and community collaboration. The land on which the institution stands was generously provided by the Amaigbo community, demonstrating a shared vision for healthcare development and education.
The institution was officially opened on 2nd June, 1955 by the then Honourable Minister of Finance, Mazi Mbonu Ojike, marking the beginning of a long-standing tradition of excellence in nursing education.

CONSA is proudly affiliated with Abia State University, Uturu, and through this partnership, the College offers the prestigious Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) degree.
